The Management Aptitude Test commonly referred to as MAT. It is a standardized test, designed by the AIMA or All India Management Association, and used by Business Schools during the admission process to recognize the capabilities of candidates. The MAT exam is used for professional, mainly autonomous courses like MBA (Masters of Business Administration), PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management), PGP (Post Graduate Program in Management), and other similar courses related to management of studies. Most International or Indian Business Schools take into consideration MAT test scores while reviewing score sheets of candidates during examinations. MAT entrance exam is quite possibly the most acclaimed test in the nation and can be considered as an admission input for over 600 business schools in India.

The Management Aptitude Test can be taken on paper or even digitally. MAT exam is conducted four times a year that is in February, May, September and December. Candidates will have to go to the center allotted by the MAT examination authorities to give their computer based Management Aptitude Tests. The MAT entrance test would generally help a candidate figure out their skills in the course of management.

MAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria


  • In MAT exam 2017 there is no age restriction as such for the eligibility of candidates for the Management Aptitude Tests.

  • Even students in their final year of their Graduation Course can apply for MAT tests 2017 all over India.

  • For general category candidate should maintain till 45 % and for other  ST category have to maintain till 40 %.

MAT 2017 Exam pattern


  • The MAT test has 200 questions which award 1 marks for every correct answer and  1/4 negative marking for every wrong answer as well.

  • The MAT exam duration  2hrs and 30 mins with 200 questions.

  • The MAT exam have a fairly heavy, but very efficient syllabus that covers the entire base of studies

  • There are five sections in the whole MAT entrance exam that comprise of 40 questions. These test an individual candidate on their interpretation, language and quantitative skills along with general knowledge. These 5 sections of assessment are:

       1. Quantitative ability

       2. Data Sufficiently

       3. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

       4. Interpretation of Data

       5. Logical and Analytical Reasoning

       6. General Awareness

 This is similar to the syllabus of the CAT test, the only difference being the added topic of General Awareness. This topic is highly important as it marks the General Knowledge of an individual which is required as everyone should have the basic knowledge of the happenings around them. The other topics follow the same guidelines as they test the skills of a candidate all the way from how they understand and interpret data and use it in given situations to their skills with words and writings along with having basic ideas of Mathematics from grades 1 to 10 and proper general knowledge, of course.

MAT 2017 Application Process


  • For a MAT application, one should register Online by visiting official site.

  • For application form avail from July 1st week 2017.
  • Candidates can pay by Online mode as well as pay by demand draft or by cash (offline).

  • The applicable fees 1400 /- can be paid by an Online mode such as Debit / Credit cards or by demand draft in favor of All India Management Association payable at Delhi from any bank. Then register online along with the DD details. Cash payment at new Delhi centers.

  • The candidate has to visit AIMA website and download admit card.

  • Make check all the details filled correctly such as name, roll number, test center.

  • Date and time slot for the exam will be automatically allotted by the system to those candidates who do not select their slot up to four days before the computer-based test.
